10 Things We Want Improved In EA Sports UFC 6 (2025)

EA Sports released UFC 5 on October 27th, 2023, and it took no time for fans of the series to start making their wishlists for a future installment in the franchise. UFC 5 was a massive step forward from UFC 4 as this was the first title to be created using the famous Frostbite engine from the Battlefield series and other EA-created titles.

Critic scores for EA Sports UFC 5 have been generally positive, with companies like Game Informer and IGN giving it an 8/10 and 9/10, respectively. With that, there is still room for improvement and, as mentioned before, fans have listed countless things that could be done to make a future UFC 6 a much better title. This will be kept fairly realistic because a lot of fans simply wish for EA to no longer be involved in the creation, but that doesn't seem likely to change anytime soon. Here are some changes EA can make to improve UFC 6.

10 Remove Coach Davis From The Career Mode

Many Fans Don't Care For The Character

10 Things We Want Improved In EA Sports UFC 6 (2)
  • Fans find the character annoying and cringe.
  • His role is a small part of a wider issue with career mode.
  • Potentially, adding more voice lines during gym workouts could fix a lot of the hate.

This isn't being said to talk poorly about the actor Scott Manuel Johnson and his abilities, but many players are not a fan of his performance in the game and the repetitive dialogue that he has during training sessions.

The performance has actually become something of a joke in the community, with many fans sharing their experiences and roasting the character.

9 New Clinch System

Similar To What The Grapple System Has

  • Plenty of fans have complained about how the clinch system works.
  • Duplicating what the mat grapple system is like would be an improvement.

The clinch system in the last few UFC titles has been a bit basic and left many fans wanting a refreshed take on the tactic. Some have said that replicating the grappling system with the joysticks would greatly improve quite a boring clinch.

At the moment, many players get upset if put in the clinch, and it is often used as a trolling method, while some just outright avoid it altogether. Comparing this to real life, the clinch can be quite exciting and a lot of fighters excel at it.

8 Make Career Mode A Bit More Realistic

Don't Fight The Same People Over And Over

  • Don't repeat the same fights over and over again.
  • Real-life fighters retire at a reasonable age.
  • Add more cutscenes, so the mode doesn't get repetitive.

Career mode has been one of the biggest and most in-depth modes in the EA Sports UFC titles since they started, but they are far from perfect. Anyone who has gone through the mode to become the G.O.A.T. will know that you will end up fighting someone like Curtis Blaydes seven times before retiring.

This also hinders a player's fights as they will be contested between two 60-plus-year-old fighters who don't look any different from what they did 40 years prior. Implementing a feature that retires the roster of the game at a realistic age while importing more created fighters would make the mode feel a bit better and not so repetitive and boring.

7 Run Your Gym Or The UFC

Something Similar To MyGM Or Universe From WWE 2K

10 Things We Want Improved In EA Sports UFC 6 (4)
  • Create a mode where players can create a year or more of the UFC.
  • Track win-loss records and who is the champion.
  • Have an allowance and have to think financially.

The WWE 2K series is far from perfect itself, but the games do have some features that EA could greatly replicate to bring more enjoyment to their player base. Universe and MyGM are some of the more popular modes from the 2K series, and doing something like that for the UFC games would be massively successful.

Some fans have pointed out creating a mode where you either run the UFC and have a budget to spend on arenas, contracts, and whatever else, or a more sandbox mode that simply tracks who is the champion, who is the top contender, injuries, and more.

6 Bring Back Ultimate Team

Many Fans Enjoyed That Mode

  • Ultimate Team is a feature in EA Sports titles.
  • Became a fan-favorite in UFC 2 and UFC 3.
  • The mode wasn't brought back for UFC 5.

Ultimate Team is a mode EA implemented into their FIFA titles and now EA FC games that rake in money every year and have a massive player count. This was put into the EA Sports UFC games for a bit but was removed and has yet to return.

Many players loved this mode and have been begging for it to return. The simple nature of spending in-game (or real-life) currency and opening packs of cards is a dopamine high that most people enjoy.

5 New And Improved Striking Animations

Make Fighters Feel Like The Real-Life Person

10 Things We Want Improved In EA Sports UFC 6 (6)
  • Older titles like UFC Undisputed 3 made fighters feel unique.
  • A fighter's stance and how they throw a punch would make them feel realistic.

Fans have praised the older UFC games made by Yuke's and THQ as they replicated a fighter's stance and movements quite well for the time. Despite EA having the technology and money to do something similar, most fighters stand the same way, throw the same punches, and just seem like copies of each other with a different look.

Part of someone having a favorite fighter is the way that fighter performs. When that is stripped away and everyone just acts the same, the sport and, in turn, the games, don't seem as fun anymore.

4 Crossplay Between Consoles

Opens Up The Multiplayer Modes

10 Things We Want Improved In EA Sports UFC 6 (7)
  • Allowing Xbox and PlayStation players to fight each other would greatly increase the player count.
  • A majority of modern games allow crossplay.

Asking for a game to have crossplay in 2024 doesn't even seem necessary anymore, but for some reason it is. While it could cost a bit more money and work to run servers that allow such a function, the reception and player count will make up for that easily.

Simply allowing Xbox players to fight PlayStation or PC players (more on that later) would greatly improve the number of people continuing to play the game months or even years after release. It would also stop the worry of having a dead online player base as one console may fall off or a large number of each do so.

3 Release The Next Game On PC

A Wide Fanbase That Has Been Left Out

10 Things We Want Improved In EA Sports UFC 6 (8)
  • PC has a massive player base asking for the series.
  • This would also greatly improve the player count.

Continuing with crossplay functionality, release a UFC game on the PC for once. It has a massive player base with games like EA FC 24 and 25 taking advantage of it, so why doesn't the EA Sports UFC title do so?

2 Community Creations Between Consoles

10 Things We Want Improved In EA Sports UFC 6 (10)
  • Create a space for players to share the custom fighters they have made.
  • This feature would keep players coming back.

Another thing that EA can be influenced by the WWE 2K series is their Community Creations tab. Allowing players to create fighters either based on real-life names or something completely original is something that is already happening and being shared via other methods online.

Why not cash in on that and make it a useful feature that everyone can use? It creates a sense of community (for lack of a better term). Players of WWE 2K share what they make on social media, become close friends, and help each other create new things. Doing that for the UFC fanbase would vastly improve the number of players staying with the title as it ages.

1 Increase The Creation Suite

Let Players Make Their Own Octagon, Titles, Etc.

  • Allow more than just custom fighters.
  • Fans want to make their own shows, titles, and more.

Finally, increase and improve the creation suite. Not to keep mentioning the WWE 2K series or other sports titles, but the quality of a created character has improved in all of those games. In the UFC series, they still look rather cartoonish and don't fit in with the actual fighters. This is something strange, as the EA FC series has a pretty strong character design and even older titles like NBA Live did a fairly good job on that.

Furthermore, include the ability to create more than just a fighter. Do stuff like create a championship, create an arena, customize a fighter's gear, import logos from online into the game, and so much more. The fact that these haven't been included, despite the fact we are on the fifth entry in the series, is a shame.
